Over 70 Years of Unmatched Service & Specialty

Joe East Jr. built a retail and service shop on Walnut Hill Lane. A-1 already had several small key shops around DFW but the Walnut Hill or "Hines" location would become the model for future stores.
Hines expanded product lines, selling home and gun safes, and offered delivery. This location is still the model for other retail locations.
1997

1949
Joe H. East Sr. pioneered the development of his own locksmith and service business. Our company namesake represents the hard work and scrappy blue collar spirit of the midcentury American entrepreneur.
We still have a copy of the January 1964 service menu he created which offers an hourly rate of just $6.

After the passing of Joe Sr., Joe H. East Jr. and his wife Beth East took over the family service truck. Beth answered calls from home while Joe ran them.

They soon decided to incorporate the business as Joe East Enterprises, continuing to use A-1 Locksmith as the DBA to maintain their spot at the top of the Yellow Pages.
1985
In 2007, Joe East Enterprises began offering online access control, surveillance, and monitored intrusion alarms, evolving to meet the modern needs of customers. The launch of the A-1 Security Group division helped meet this increased demand for cutting-edge security technology.
2007

A demand for hardware installation, safe installation, and ongoing service for new construction emerged. This led to the development of the builder solutions division, now known as Turnkey.
Turnkey provides and installs door hardware, smart access control, and safes for single family, multi-family and commercial new construction and retrofitting.
2015

Today, Joe East Enterprises continues to evolve and adapt to our ever-changing global climate. Currently faced with a global pandemic and civil unrest, navigating through crisis and world change has always and will continue to strengthen our core values and our Ethos. Uncertain times shed light on why our company still exists today: to solve problems. New opportunities will remain dependent on three things: great people, efficient and effective processes, and consistent execution. We provide for three distinct markets: retail, service, & solutions.
